tic tock

Tic tock, the game is locked. And no one else can play. Hooray!!! A friend of mine used to say this at work all the time. It has stuck with me and pretty much sums up how I feel at this point in my pregnancy. Right now I feel like time is dragging on, standing still if at all possible. The temperatures and humidity are absolutely ridiculous and it's miserable.

I'm in the final weeks and still feel pretty good. I'm still walking every day and have finally unpacked and organized everything for Baby D. Our final car seat arrived last week and is waiting to be installed in the gray bus. It is appalling to me how much money we have tied up in car seats alone. We could have purchased a small used car for less than we've spent on car seats. I feel like the kids are in the safest seats available, especially important with the crazy drivers down here, so it is worth every penny.

A friend of mine asked me the other day if I was sad or nostalgic about this being my very last pregnancy. I am not. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't enjoy being pregnant. Surprising because it appears to be a constant state for me. I'm very grateful and blessed that I have been able to experience this four times but I have no desire to do it again. My pregnancies are always difficult and this one has been the toughest by far. I'm somewhat sad to know that this will be the last baby I hold that is my own. I'm definitely not sad enough to willingly put myself through this again. We originally thought we were going to stop at three. I knew right after I had Will I wanted one more. I remember sitting in the hospital, holding Will a few hours after he was born, telling Jason I didn't feel like this was it. Jason, of course, looked at me like I had six heads and had completely lost my mind. I've always wanted two girls and two boys and finally feel like our family is complete.

weekend conversations

Friday afternoon the kids and I went to the grocery store. I have to say that I love shopping for anything. Anything that is except groceries. Two things happen every time we go grocery shopping 1)I always end up with things in my cart that I didn't put there 2)Things that I did put in the cart always find there way back to a random shelf. So I have become that woman at the grocery store that walks down the center of the aisle like she owns the place and no one can get around her and her big airplane grocery cart. I annoy even myself. We were almost finished with shopping when we reach the egg section. Amelia was insistent on buying brown eggs instead of white. In all honesty I have never had a brown egg and couldn't tell you a thing about them. I was afraid it would be like 2%, skim and whole milk and I can totally taste a difference between all three. So no brown eggs for us. Amelia insisted. She did not want white eggs. She wanted brown eggs. Brown eggs are chocolate eggs and she wanted chocolate eggs instead of the white ones.

Jason always takes the girls to swimming lessons. Today Bella wanted to ride in the truck instead of the minivan. (Who can blame her?) Jason is the truck's primary driver and doesn't have all the mommy goodies stocked like the minivan. Bella asked for some fruity gum and looked in the console. Jason had no idea what she was talking about and told her he was totally out of gum. She responded "dammit" and shut the console. I wish I could say "I don't know where she heard that from." Of course I would be lying. I never really thought she could hear me but since she used the correct tense and everything, I'm guessing she does. Jason told her that isn't a very nice word to say and he better not hear her say it again. I also got a language warning when Daddy came home. I'm going to have to watch what I say under my breath more closely.

Happy Father's Day!

We hope everyone had a Happy Father's Day!! This weekend was busy for us. The girls are both currently taking swimming lessons. Amelia's are on Saturday morning and Bella's are Sunday afternoons. They love it and are doing great but it is a hassle to take them on different days at different times. Jason worked in the yard yesterday afternoon and is going to finish laying the sod tonight. Two more pallets and hopefully that project will be complete next weekend. We took the kids to the "big pool" for a few hours yesterday and today and they had a great time. All three of the kids loved going down the slide and we especially couldn't keep Will off of it. We experienced our first bee sting ever yesterday. Bella stepped on a bee while she was getting in the pool. She cried but I was relieved that she doesn't appear to be allergic. Last night we went to Mr. Troy and Miss Susan's for some Blizzard Birthday cake.
The first picture I took turned out the best and of course it had fog on the lens from just bringing the camera outside.

Is it fall yet?

Summer has hit in Alabama. Woohoo. I used to love summer and now that I live somewhere that there are two seasons, summer and winter, I despise it. It's in the 90s here already and is absolutely miserable out. I think the only thing that could possibly make 90 degree temperatures worse is the 94% humidity that is accompanying them. We are melting and the kids refuse to go outside during the day unless they are in the pool. (I am sure many of our future posts will be pool pictures.) We usually go out for two hours in the morning and again for 2 hours after naps in the afternoon. Every single day. I'm waiting on the day they become bored with the pool and I'm going to have to pull another trick out of my sleeve. So far I have been lucky and the pool continues to entertain them.

Amelia's dancing

Amelia has been watching her big sister dance for the past two years and anxiously been waiting her turn. She started class last week and was a little skeptical about being left in the room alone. I talked to her teacher after class and she did great! She has been singing "I'm a VIP" all week and asking when she had dance class again. Tonight at class she took her bag and went right in without even looking back! I was SO proud of her!! I had time this week to take a few pictures of her in her "lollitard" and new skirt. Is anyone surprised by the bling? I'm not. She would probably have sequined tap shoes if she could get away with it.
